If anybody asks “whats the biggest difference between Australia and the US?” I have the answer!!!! All you have to say is…Look at the size of our animals and multiply them by 2 and you’ve got the Aussie animals.. SERIOUSLY!!! the frogs, toads, birds, bugs, and SPIDERS!!!!
I think everybody should google “huntsman spider” and look at the pictures. THen maybe you will get a feel for what was crawling around in our apartment the other day. I walked into my apartment on Friday morning and Kelly and Jess are standing out in the living room…looking at me. They asked me if i liked spiders..and if you people don’t know already..I HATE SPIDERS..i think i have a problem..(first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem right?!) Well they told me to go into Kellys room and look up on the wall. Her door was shut and i really didn’t want to go in there…especially by myself.. So after about 10 minutes of arguing about who goes in the room first, Jess opened the door, ran into the room, screamed and ran back out. The spider was no longer in the spot it was before…THEY COULDN’T FIND IT!!! The three of us started to freak out and well freak out some more because the dog sized spider was no where to be seen. So Kelly..after another 10 minutes of arguing on who had to shut the door, shut the door. Then we put a towel next to the door so the spider couldn’t run out from underneath the door. All we could do was wait for superman to come back to find the spider and get it out. so in the mean time, i was educated on the hutsman spider. Here is what i found out: the bite is not poisonous, they can grow to be big enough to attack crows, they get REALLY big in the sheds/barns, they run really really fast, they are ugly as __________, they come inside in the winter or when it rains a lot…i could go on and on..but why bother?! im grossing myself out. Superman FINALLY came back home..and he brought a friend (good….they can tag team the beast!) So we tell superman about the spider..they go into Kellys room, and start looking for it. Superman..being a 22 year old guy looks at the three of us standing creeping around the corner into Kellys room, he picks up a towel, screams and throws the towel towards us..well being 19, and 21 year old girls..we scream bloody murder..(ya its pathetic, but its just a reflex). Anyways..they find the dog sized spider behind one of her speakers…GET THIS!!! THEY DON’T KILL THE THING!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that would be “mean”!!! HA…spiders shouldn’t be aloud to live..but i guess they don’t want karma to get them..so they get a cup and get a cd..and somehow get it into the cup. Supermans friend DJ comes out of her room with the spider…and for some reason kelly, jess, emma, and i decide its necessary to screech and scream again..so they take the spider outside and get this..LET IT GO!!! They come back in pretending not to be able to hear anything any more..ha-ha…it was a very traumatic event in my life..i mean its not every day you come face to face with a hand sized spider..that im pretty sure could eat my leg off in one bite. So now i sleep with a towel jammed underneath my door so no spiders can get in.
In happier news, this next week is the LAST week of classes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!! FINALLY FREE!!! That means that i have ONE..ya you heard right ONE more Food Preservation Lab left!!! ONE MORE!!!! I don’t think i have ever been happier!!! I am planning on going to Melbourne for a while after finals, and Superman and I might go to Cairns (since i haven’t been there yet) and go scuba diving. I found out today that he is a master diver (or whatever you call the highest diver)..he has done night dives, deep water dives, normal dives, cave dives, and ship recked dives!! I WANT TO DO THAT!! So we might go to Cairns and dive for a few days if we can afford it and there is time! EEEKK..almost time to come home..only One month, two weeks, and one day left!!
